An AI window organizer for Mac
Most Macs fill up the same way: a trip in one browser window, a budget in a spreadsheet, a plan in a document, all stacked on each other. One key sorts them. Tidy Windows gathers every open window into topics by what you are doing, gives each topic one area across your displays and shows its name for a moment.
The same key puts them back
Press the key again and every window returns where it was, in the order it stood, so tidying up costs nothing.
Sorted by on-device AI
Windows whose titles share a distinctive word become one project, and Apple's on-device model sorts the rest from their app names and window titles. Without Apple Intelligence, rules on the kind of app decide.
A window manager for one window too
Drag a window to a display's edge, or use the shortcuts for halves, quarters, thirds and center. Press Left at the left half or Right at the right half and the window walks on to the next display.
The macOS look and 25 Codigrate themes
The topic names, the lines around the areas and the snap preview take the macOS look or one of the 25 Codigrate themes, with Multicolor for a color per topic.
Private by design
Grouping runs entirely on your Mac. No account, no cloud and no network requests. It reads window titles and positions, never what a window shows.
Questions
- How do I organize all my windows on a Mac at once?
- Press Control Option W. Tidy Windows sorts every open window into topics, gives each topic one area across your displays and shows its name for a moment. Press the same key again and every window goes back where it was.
- Is Tidy Windows a Magnet alternative?
- Yes. It places one window with shortcuts and by dragging to a display's edge, as window managers such as Magnet do, and it adds one key that sorts all your windows into topics with on-device AI.
- Does Tidy Windows need Apple Intelligence?
- AI Grouping runs on Apple's on-device Foundation Models, so it needs a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on. Without it, windows whose titles share a word still become one project and rules on the kind of app decide the rest. Snapping needs no AI at all.
- Does Tidy Windows read what is in my windows?
- No. It reads each window's app name, title, position and size through the Accessibility permission, and the on-device model sees only app names and titles. It never reads what a window shows, and nothing leaves your Mac.
- Can I get my windows back after tidying?
- Yes. The same key takes the board down and puts every window back where it was, in the order it stood.
- Why is Tidy Windows not on the Mac App Store?
- Apps on the Mac App Store must run in a sandbox, and the sandbox shuts out the Accessibility API that moves other apps' windows. So Tidy Windows sells here, signed and notarized by Apple, and it opens without a warning.
- Which Macs does Tidy Windows run on?
- Macs with macOS 26 Tahoe or later. It is a native menu bar app, and it works with one display or several.
